The ultimate question, of course, is whether or not it’s worth your money. I, and the rest of the P50-loving world, say yes. If you can spare the price, and choose the right formula (go see that esthetician, if you have to!), it will make a huge difference, and you will wonder how you ever lived without it. I do, as I pat it into my skin every night, and then climb in bed and turn out the lights and dream of salt and vinegar chips.

A Celebrity Dermatologist’s Science-Based Skin-Care Routine

On using P50 in the mornings: My bathroom looks like Sephora. I love to test new products and am lucky enough to be sent a lot of them. I use a micellar water in the morning. I am a fan of Biologique Recherche P50 lotion. I know a lot of people don’t like it because of phenol. But if you read the studies, it’s not dangerous, plus you can get a version without it anyway. It makes my skin texture look prettier, and it diminishes the appearance of pores.

On sheet masking to slow down: I also love the little eye patches that makes my eyes look brighter. I do have the Valmont ones...  and Valmont eye creams. I found out about Valmont from Rescue Spa — it’s my heaven.

I Flew 21 Hours for This Facial, and Boy It Was Worth It

Walking into Rescue Spa is what I imagine walking into heaven to be like: Bright, white, and walls lined with Biologique Recherche. Located a few blocks behind the Flatiron Building, Rescue Spa is an incredible space that caters to your every skin and massage need, as well as hair, makeup, manis, pedis, and brows—so you can basically walk in feeling like the shell of a human and leave looking like Gigi Hadid at the Met Gala.

I settled in at the waiting area once I arrived and nibbled on bliss balls and mint-infused water whilst I waited for my therapist, concerned over the state of my skin as I had only stepped off a 21-hour flight a few hours prior. I was booked in for the Biologique Recherche “Le Lift Parisienne” Treatment, and oh my goodness—bliss. After lashings of P50 (one of the world’s greatest skincare products, IMHO), LED therapy, and Placenta Serum, my “I just flew around the world and look like shit” skin was baby smooth, hydrated, and free of aeroplane gunk. It wasn’t quite as zen as Cap, and more of a straight-shooter treatment (there were no crystals or sage), but it was phenomenal. The closest thing in Sydney is definitely Mel Grant (if you’re dying for some TLC).

The Toner That Changed It All

“Biologique Recherche Lotion P50. I used this for the first time one evening at about 6:45 p.m., before heading to a movie and a bar. By the time I stumbled home at 4:50 a.m., the hormonal breakouts around my chin had basically melted, and by the following week, the hyperpigmentation left behind by a previous breakout had similarly disappeared. I use the original 1970 version, which has plenty of lactic acid to make your skin glow along with phenol, an antiseptic which helps prevent the formation of acne. It does burn, but I think it’s worth it. I credit this product with normalizing my skin so that it’s not too oily or dry. Use it at nighttime, on a cotton pad.” Jasmine Sanders x  The Cut

Nude Lip Glow for dewy, fresh, healthy looking lips.

We are all striving for that radiant glow in our skin. Why not apply that same philosophy to our lips?

When searching for a nude lipstick  we often gravitate towards very neutral or beige colors. Before makeup lines began to cultivate a range of fleshy lip tones in various formulas, editorial makeup artists sometimes used concealer to create their own nude lip colors. This old school nude effect called for an almost colorless lip (often to balance a bold feature like a smokey eye). Today, an everyday nude lip color can be much fresher and showcase the wearer’s unique lip tone.

A  nude color that is  translucent lets the natural skin color peek through. A good way to estimate if a nude lipstick is a good color is to swatch a little on your cheeks. If it doesn’t work as a subtle blush then it is probably won’t read as natural on the lips. Line the lips in a pencil that is as close to an exact match of the natural lip color as possible. This creates a strong base for the shape and an undertone that is realistic. My current favorite formula for a healthy looking lip is the Chantecaille Lip Chic which boosts moisture with hyaluronic acid. Right now I like the pinkish nude Hyacinth and the light mauve Wisteria  (an interesting twist on nude as it is light reflective and picks up on realistic purple undertones common in many complexions). A new addition this summer is the warm caramel Lychee Lip Sleek. These hydrating formulas keeps your lips dewy and plump.

Even if you prefer a really neutral color, always consider that the lips should look like they have a healthy glow of circulation. Part of the reason your face looks so plumped and radiant after a facial is the wonderful circulation that has been stimulated from the massage. If your nude lipstick looks too flat or too colorless, you can add a tiny amount of a bright transparent gloss in a color like pink or coral or on top (just enough to boost the shade without changing the color completely). Another method is to lightly stain bare lips with a red or berry tone and then apply a nude color over it. These color layering tricks help ensure the look of a healthy complexion by adding a flush of warmth to your lips.
