BRIDES: The Best Facials in NYC for the Ultimate Bridal Glow

What to get: Oxylight Facial

$500 (For a more budget-friendly option, try the Biolift Facial for $200)

“Rescue Spa’s lead esthetician Diana Yerkes calls the Oxylight Facial the ‘red carpet facial’ for a reason—if you want to come out of the spa looking like Bella Hadid, without a doubt this is the way to go. This facial combines a handful of modalities including Microcurrents, LED Light Therapy, Oxygen Therapy, Biosonix Ultrasound, and Negative Pressure Therapy. What do all those words mean, you ask? First of all, each is non-invasive, meaning no downtime and no irritation/red spots. It’s meant to take celebs (aka, you) straight from the spa to the red carpet (ahem, aisle). Before starting any treatments, Yerkes looked at my skin to asses my needs: i.e. HYDRATION!!! No matter how much mist and hyaluronic acid I douse myself in, estheticians always come at me with, “Hmm, you’re looking pretty dehydrated…” After a series of masks and a vigorous neck and face massage with Biologique Recherche’s cult classic P50 1970 toner, Yerkes used the Biosonix Ultrasound wand set on three rotating LED light colors specifically for my skin needs: red to combat fine lines and wrinkles, green for hyper-pigmentation (aka sun damage from my Florida childhood), and purple to reduce inflammation and promote collagen production. Then, we moved on to the microcurrent portion using the Biologique Recherche machine to stimulate the muscles of my face to lift and contour (also used in the Biolift Facial). It feels a little weird and tingly, and when the probes go near your mouth your spit will taste metallic, but overall it’s pretty low-key for high-key results. Then I was back to LED, this time under a large panel with the same rotating colors, accompanied by a steady stream of cool oxygen. At first it was a bit intense (the lights are very bright and the goggles very small) but after about a minute, it became extremely meditative—any yogi will know that feeling of super-calmness when doing deep breath work (plus, a hand and foot massage came with it, NBD). When I looked in the mirror, to be totally honest, I was astounded. I’ve legit never looked better, and never gotten so many compliments on my skin. The glow and overall firmness was so dramatic that I wore nothing but mascara for the next two weeks. The next time I want baby skin and have $500 to drop, Rescue will be my first stop.” —Aviel Kanter, Senior Digital Editor

Been There, Tried That: A Facial With The Founder of Rescue Spa

Ahh yes, Rescue Spa. The famous spa name passed around by glamorous New Yorkers. The founder, Danuta Mieloch, is the closest thing to a skin goddess, as clients praise her ability to make their complexion radiant, hydrated, and blemish-free. Naturally, I jumped at the opportunity to get a facial with the amazing Danuta, after hearing her praises for quite some time. Literally one week after my appointment, I saw an Instagram story of Danuta posing with none other than Rosie Huntington Whiteley. If it’s good enough for her, it’s most definitely good enough for me!

Hot Spot: New York — Air France MADAME

Kim Zimmerman of Rescue Spa says when it comes to P50, “the devotees always buy in multiples—an 8.5 ounce for home and a 1.7 ounce for their bag so they are never without it. We also have entire households that use P50 and each person has their own bottle. Mom, dad and even the kids—teens typically—each have a bottle of their own. Our high-profile clients who have homes throughout the country even ship a bottle to each place so that they have one waiting for them no matter where they are!”

THE VERY BEST FACIALS, ACCORDING TO BEAUTY EDITORS, -Siraad Dirshe, Essence

Siraad Dirshe, Beauty Editor, Essence

The spot(s): Rescue Spa in New York City and Philadelphia;

The treatment: “I actually used to travel to Philly to get facials here for about two years — Diana Yerkes is the best. At the time, they didn’t have a location in New York (thank goodness they opened one last year) so I would take the two-hour trek for my facial fix. What I love is that this is a Biologique Recherche (one of my favorite skin care lines) spa. I’ve gotten a few treatments done here over the years, from microdermabrasion to oxygen facials to peels. Honestly you can’t go wrong with Diana. You always leave super-glowy and very relaxed.

The spot(s): Rescue Spa in New York City and Philadelphia;

The treatment(s): Custom facial with extractions with owner Danuta Mieloch at Rescue; “Danuta knows a lot, lot, lot about skin and she isn’t religious or dogmatic about anything, which I really appreciate. She is a listener and responder, so you can go in with your autobiography about everything you’ve been through with your skin and she will take it seriously and not come back to you with skepticism — my biggest pet peeve among facialists! Her extractions are practically surgical: She’ll get that sucker out of your face, and even if it’s a big one, it will heal quickly.”

The treatment: “My favorite spot for facials is, hands down, Rescue Spa. Since they came to town (they’re originally from Philly), my perspective on skin maintenance has changed. It’s hard to find someone you trust! Now I feel like I can see Danuta Mieloch once a season, have everything checked out, extracted, exfoliated and massaged to keep me on the path toward even, bright, smooth skin. Everyone at Into The Gloss has Danuta tattooed on their bicep — we’re that devoted. Splurge for the Bio Lift. Worth it.”
