Danuta’s Winter Essentials

It’s important to take special care of your skin in the winter. Here are a few things you can do to keep skin moist and healthy all season long…

  • Use a humidifier when the air is dry.
  • Put moisturizer and oil on your body immediately after bathing.
Create a ritual of applying oils like Body Oxygenant followed by MSRH Corps.
  • Wear natural fibers, such as cotton and silk, because they allow your skin to breathe.
  • Cover up when the air is dry, to hold moisture in.
  • Focus on proper nutrition and drinking plenty of water.
  • Avoid things that trigger allergic reactions. Use detergent free of dyes and perfumes.
  • Mature and drier skin types should apply and reapply moisturizer to lock in moisture.
  • Let’s not forget hands (telltale sign of age). Apply hand cream and cuticle oil often.
  • Don’t forget to wear gloves while doing home chores and while outdoors.
  • Practice a good skincare regimen:
  1. Dry skin can happen at any age, but it’s most likely a concern if you’re 50 or older. This is because the glands that make oil for your skin get smaller as you age and produce less.  Many popular soaps and cleansers “clean” your skin by removing oil. This strips the skin, which often causes dryness or breakouts to worsen. At Rescue we always recommend a gentle milky cleanser like Lait VIP o2. Use with a washcloth to buff away dry flaky skin and reveal the fresh skin that lies beneath. Washcloths are super gentle on the skin and most importantly, they don’t cost much. 🙂

  2. Once your skin is properly cleansed it is extremely important to balance the pH of your skin. Our favorite product for this step is Lotion P50 1970.During the winter I personally use P50 1970 at night and P50W in the daytime (this gentler formula is fantastic for winter). *A reminder to the health conscious: all Biologique Recherche products are paraben-free and safe to use.

  3. After you’ve applied P50 follow with a hylarounic acid based serum to keep skin plump, hydrated and, yes, looking younger! Babies are born with a high level of hyaluronic acid, which keeps their skin plump and smooth. Unfortunately, the amount of hyaluronic acid in skin diminishes with age, most significantly after age 40. While it may not be possible to maintain perfectly dewy baby-skin, these serums help to restore the skin’s hyaluronic acid content. Applied topically hyaluronic acid increases hydration, improves elasticity, and reverses free radical damage. All skin types, even oily, will benefit from using hyaluronic acid serum. *For those who get injectables it prolongs the plumping effect.

LayerWinter skincare is like your winter wardrobe, it’s all about layers! I always layer my serums, starting with the lightest texture and finishing with the thickest. Here is my current mix of serums and creams for daytime: AmniotiqueLe Grand Serum, Yall o2, Creme Dermo RL, and Fluide VIP O2.

  4. Your evening routine is another story. Winter is time to bust out the big game changers like MBR’s liquid surgery serum, followed by MBR Extraordinary Cream. Mind you I’m over 50 and the names alone provide a feel-good-factor (I’ll take liquid surgery anytime, no pain or risk involved).

For younger gals I suggest Environ’s Cquence 3 serum. It’s packed with peptides, vitamins, and retinol to address antiaging in one simple step.

I also highly recommend keeping the skin challenged by alternating your regimen every other night. Currently I’m alternating MBR Extraordinary cream with BR Le Grand Creme (*available in January).

For a dry skin solution I love Vintners Daughter Active Botanical Serum – a clean beauty favorite of celebrities. It has a loyal following for good reason. This cult product is a powerful sustainably crafted oil that delivers skin all the essentials, moisture, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants.

Valmont Regenera II is another winter staple. It’s a rich cream-balm that solves dry skin, lips, cuticles, patches, etc. Love… love… love!

  5. Rescue Spa Facials are always geared to problem solve. Whether it’s dry skin, brown spots, redness, irritation, or inflamed acne, Rescue Facials are always customized to focus on what your skin needs. With the right combination of products and high-tech tools, our estheticians can really create change in the skin over time to help you achieve your greatest complexion.

  6. Last but not least. Cold weather is the best time to develop healthy rituals and ceremonies. Taking care of my skin is a daily practice.
Create your own magic, have fun in your mini beauty apothecary ….
    Light a candle….
    Mask often….
    Take a bath…
    Breathe….
Get cozy in slippers and wrap up in cashmere …..
Practice self love, cultivate wellbeing, sing, dance and feel like a goddess ….

Happy Winter :)))

“I never thought this masque would be suitable for oil-prone skin at my age, but, recently, I was pleasantly surprised to discover other wise. In this post I would like to focus on the benefits of adding this masque creme to a regimen.”

Masque Creme Biofixine is one of the earliest products from the Biologique Recherche line, a lifting and brightening masque that can be used in so many ways! I never thought this masque would be suitable for oil-prone skin at my age, but, recently, I was pleasantly surprised to discover other wise. In this post I would like to focus on the benefits of adding this masque creme to a regimen.

Biologique Recherche Masque Creme Biofixine is a toning anti-wrinkle treatment, both a mask and a cream. It is an innovative multifunctional product that tones and smoothes the epidermis, improves skin elasticity, helps unify the texture of the skin and prevent visible signs of aging. It features a re-plumping effect and leaves the skin feeling wonderfully soothed. The grape seed oil and green anise extract help fight free radicals while the white clay purifies. This BR oxygenating complex brings life back to your skin.

Here’s how I use it as a masque: After cleansing my face with the Lait Vip O2 and a thorough application of P50 1970, I follow up with an MC110 booster in the areas that need some extra attention. I prefer to apply the Masque Creme Biofixine all over my face, neck and décolletage in a thin layer and let it work it’s magic! 20-30 minutes should be sufficient. Then I remove it with a damp cloth and follow up with Fluide VIPO2 for more glowing skin. Before an event or after a long night out, I recommend leaving the masque on for up to 2 hours for extra purifying and plumping benefits.

Here’s how to use it as a cream: Application is the same as above but this time I make sure to apply a very thin layer on and massage it upwards until it is completely absorbed. The next morning, my skin is visibly brighter, smoother and awake! I like to use Masque Creme Biofixine as a cream after a grueling and exhausting day or a long-haul flight. You should try it this way too!

Masque Creme Biofixine is on the pricier side of products, but, in my opinion, it is worth every penny! Try it for yourself and discover why I consider this masque a favorite and call it the best route to beautiful and glowing skin!

Biologique Recherche Fall Essentials with Danuta

Biologique Recherche Fall Essentials with Danuta

~

Fall is the perfect time of year to focus on repairing post Summer sun damage, evening out the skin tone, and boosting hydration.  Just as our wardrobe changes for the season our skin care regimen should as well.  This means layering the appropriate serums, reaching for a richer moisturizer, and finding the time to mask.

  1. Cleanse. I spend my time between two of my favorite cities, Philadelphia and NYC, so Biologique Recherche’s Lait VIP O2 is a must-have as it has a special antipollution complex. This milky cleanser is great for all skin types. Hydrates the skin and brightens the complexion.
  2. Tone.  At the moment I am alternating between Lotion P50 1970 (day) and Lotion P50 Pigm 400 (night).
  3. Mask. I love Masque Creme Biofixine because it is supremely hydrating and smoothing. It’s even incredible to treat the signs of aging around the eye area. Perfect for anyone 40+.  For those under the age of 40, I highly recommend Bio Magic Mask. It has great lifting and pore tightening effects.
  4. Quintessential Serums.  For those 40+ I recommend Amniotque E. and Colustrum.
For those under 40 I recommend Serum Dermopore and Extraits Tissulaires.
  5. Moisturize. Creme MSR-H is incredibly nourishing and provides phyto hormones from wild yam and soy extract which makes it the go-to cream for women 40+.  For those under 40 I recommend Emulsion Originelle Regenerante.
**Night Treatments. Swap your usual night cream for Creme Aux Acides des Fruits for one month, every other month. This is a wonderful way to repair post summer sun damage and reset the skin.  You can also try Serum Matriciel Visage + Creme Pigm 400 instead to simultaneously lift and brighten the skin.
  6. Finishing Serum(s) can be applied before or after your moisturizer. Serum Fluide VIP O2 is great for all skin types and ages.  If you want to switch it up or add another layer to really seal in the hydration look to Le Grand (40+) or Silk Plus (under 40).
  7. Don’t forget to wear a broad spectrum SPF during the day, even in the Fall!
  8. If you are in NYC you can schedule a Biologique Recherche treatment such as Le Lift or Le Remodeling Face directly with me or any one of our talented estheticians. Rescue Spa offers the same treatments one would receive at the world famous Ambassade de la Beauté on the Champs-Élysées in Paris! ????????
Skin needs to breathe…to eliminate the dead cells which clog pores and slow down oxygen exchange, this treatment is an efficient cocktail of micro-crystalline algae, silk extracts and natural amino acid. The active products are combined with modulating techniques and massage into a purifying ritual that redefines facial contours and firms the oval of the face. Your skin is luminous, firm and toned. Le Lift treatment gives an instant lifting effect.  (60 min) $200

Wider-looking eyes, more prominent cheekbones, softer wrinkles, a better defined facial contour…Remodeling Face®. Machine can perform all this magic for you. This machine uses state-of- the-art bio-electrotherapy for tailored beauty treatments. Remodeling Face®. Machine combines four types of electric currents: Galvanic current which improves the absorption of the active ingredients, low and medium frequency current which re-shapes and tones, Athermic pulsed high frequency current which revitalizes the epidermis. How The Estheticians Do It: Jet Set Ready…

✈️  jet set ready  ✈️

by Diana Yerkes

I have been extremely lucky to continuously feed my passion for travel and I enjoy sharing stories from my adventures with the clients. One question that always comes up is how do I manage to keep my skin looking good and healthy while traveling. In this post, I would like to share my skincare secrets catered to frequent travelers’ needs.

When traveling, the skin can become rather dehydrated and flaky, not to mention that added stress associated with travel interrupts normal skin’s functions and leads to stubborn breakouts. To avoid that, my first tip is to always prepare your skin the night before.

STEP ONE: PREP

Treat yourself to a balancing masque such as Vivant by Biologique Recherche and apply an intense moisturizer to soothe and condition the skin. My moisturizer of choice is Dermopurifiante for its restorative and purifying properties.

STEP TWO: GO EASY ON MAKE UP

I advise to always travel with thoroughly clean and moisturized skin. Makeup is a no-go unless you are a fan of nasty breakouts.

STEP THREE: “BUILD YOUR OWN” SKIN EMERGENCY KIT

Travel smart with your skincare must-haves on hand. These are the products that I need to have in my kit at all times:

STEP FOUR: BE EFFICIENT EN ROUTE

  • Keep your skin and your body hydrated.
  • Moisturize before the take-off and freshen up your skin with every hour while in flight. L’eauxygenate.
  • Opt up for mineral water in lieu of a tropical cocktail.
  • Apply lip treatment liberally. 3LAB Perfect Lips offers intense and long-lasting hydration and it is my lip balm of choice.
  • Don’t forget your hands! Slather on hand cream such as Lippman Collection Rich Girl SPF25 for instant hydration and sun spots protection wile high in altitude and more exposed to damaging sun rays.

STEP FIVE: WAKE UP YOUR SKIN

Upon arrival, it is good to give your skin a thorough but gentle cleanse. I use Lait VIP O2 with a soft washcloth and I prefer to cleanse twice. Follow up with a thorough application of P50 1970 and a masque of your choice for 15-20 min. I choose to use a combination of Vivant with VIP O2 all over my face when I feel that my skin needs purifying. If flakiness/dullness is an issue, a massaging masque to improve microcirculation, such as Prime Renewing Pack by Valmont, is a life saver! Tip: Leave it overnight for an instant beauty boost.

 STEP SIX: ADDRESS THE EYES

As a result of a long haul flight, we are left with puffy and tired looking eyes. I suggest to use eye contour gel masques, such Gold Energizing Eye Recovery Mask by Chantecaille or Cellcollagen Eye Treatment Mask by Cellcosmet,-it acts as an automatic wake up call.

STEP SEVEN: UNLEASH THE EXPLORER INSIDE YOU

Get out there and build on your experiences, try new things and be adventurous!

There you have it- with these simple steps you can arrive at your destination and enjoy your vacation with beautiful, glowing and well-rested skin!

Cheers to the adventurer in all of us,

 Diana Yerkes

YouTube Tutorial: Complete Skincare Regimen

A complete daily skincare regimen is the best way to achieve healthy, balanced, and glowing skin. Watch this Youtube video to as Rescue esthetician Joanna Kula shows us how it’s done!

Cleanse: “Any good skincare regime begins with proper cleansing. I advise everyone to develop a cleansing ritual, which will serve as the necessary foundation of good skincare. Without it, you simply cannot achieve healthy, beautiful skin. Everyone can benefit from using a mild cleanser like Biologique Recherche Lait U. ” –Danuta Mieloch, Rescue Spa Founder

Tone and Exfoliate: “A cult favorite, Biologique Recherche’s P50 1970 is a magic potion that does it all. It exfoliates, hydrates and balances the pH of the skin and it’s a prep step before any skincare. For those of you who prefer granule exfoliators over acidic formulas, opt for Valmont Face Scrub and massage gently into skin to slough off that layer of dead skin cells.” – DM

Plump, lift and hydrate: “Serums are the most potent elixirs, lighter in texture with deeper penetration than creams, and they are great for replenishing. They can also extend the life of injectables by replenishing moisture on the outer layer.” – DM

Moisturize: “All skin types need hydration and a moisturizer. A good moisturizer shields and protects your skin from harmful daily aggressors to keep it young and supple. It’s like wearing stockings in the winter; very sheer yet protective. Don’t forget to use eye cream and moisturize your entire body, too.” – DM

Protection: “Don’t forget to use SPF daily!”– DM

Look and feel as though you’ve just spent a week on an exotic resort.
~

DIY daycation – the Ritual

To begin unwind with an epsom salt soak.  Adding a few cups of epsom salt to warm bath water aids in exfoliating skin and soothes sore muscles.  Another great relaxation tool is self massage.  Warm your preferred oil and spend at least 15-20 minutes mindfully massaging the body, paying particular attention to the hands and feet.  This will help stimulate various reflexology and pressure points linked to various body parts.  There is good reason that massage has globally been an essential component of well being and vitality for centuries. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again.  A daily skin care routine is essential.  Daily maintenance and diligence allow for luminous results, now and for years to come.  Boost your regimen once a week by performing your own facial following these steps:

1.  Double cleanse.  Massage Lait VIP O2 onto dry skin (over makeup) for a good sixty seconds. Splash. Emulsify.  Remove with a warm wet wash cloth or Konjac.  Repeat.

2.  Tone/Exfoliate/Hydrate/Balance:  Biologique Recherche P50 1970 exfoliating toner to a cotton into skin in an upward motion, repeating until the pad comes away clean.  This step alone is a game changer.  Try this technique on half of your face in order to truly observe the lifting results.

  • ***Do a double pass.  This allows for your skin to really absorb the benefits of P50 1970, which in turn prepares the skin for the next step…

3.  Mask.  Mixing Masque Vivant with Masque VIP O2  is a favorite of many beauty editors, is suitable for does double duty allowing skin to reap the brightening benefits of VIP 02 as well as the purifying benefits of Vivant.

4.  Massage.  Spend 5 minutes massaging the face with Valmont Renewing Pack in order to increase circulation.

5.  Replenish.  Follow with the serum of your choice.  For added results, mix and match multiple serums to address multiple concerns.

  • Oily Skin:  Complexe Iribiol.
  • Redness & Rosacea:  Serum Erythros.
  • Hyperpigmentation:  Super “H” Serum by 3Lab.
  • Hydration & Glow:  Use Serum Fluide VIP O2 as a finishing
serum to seal in hydration and oxygenation. Excellent for all skin
types and extremely important for city dwellers!

6.  Moisturize.  Apply your preferred moisturizer.

1. Prepare the skin with a thorough cleansing.  We suggest massaging lait vip o2 onto dry skin (over makeup) for about a minute. Splash. Remove with a warm wet wash cloth or a konjac sponge  (replace monthly). Repeat for a double cleanse.

2. Gently exfoliate with a scrub such as Cellcomset’s Dual Exfoliant.  Massage onto dampened skin with light circular movements for 2-3 minutes to activate enzymes.

3. Tone/Hydrate/Balance/Lightly Peel the skin with P50 1970. Spend extra time with a P50 1970 soaked cotton round, being sure to tap inward and upward with light mechanical motions.  This movement ensures proper delivery of the product deep into the epidermis.  *You may notice a bit of tingling and pinkness which is perfectly normal.

4. Mask. 10-20 min.

  • Oily/Acne Prone Skin Types: Choose Mask Vivant  for deep pore cleansing, dissolving blackheads, and keeping breakouts at bay… it’s also very anti-aging. It’s not your typical clay mask, rather it’s a probiotic mask and also gives the skin a great glow.
    • Here’s a helpful tip: Try adding a pinch of baking soda and drop of water to the mask vivant to alkalize it if you have very stubborn blackheads or breakouts. Apply only to the areas, such as your nose, that need it.  Also excellent to use daily!
  • Combination Skin Types: Spot treat oily areas with Mask Vivant and dry or normal areas with Mask VIP O2 (even over the eye area). It’s hydrating and oxygenating. Anti-aging and antipollution!
  • Dry Skin: Opt for Creme Masque Vernix. It gives the skin a “second birth”.

5.  Replenish. Apply serum Renovateur 14 first and Serum Complexe Royal second.  Finish with Serum Fluide VIP O2.  Your skin will be positively radiant by this point but you’re not quite  done…

6. Swap your heavy moisturizer for something lightweight such as Gel ADN Silkgen.

*Very dry skin types: try layering Serum silk plus on top of the Gel ADN Silkgen

7. Protect.  SPF daily! By now we all know how important this step is. Sun exposure is the number one cause of aging and damage to the skin.

Switch your makeup for something lighter such as the By Terry Cellularose CC Cream.  For a lit from within rosy glow opt for a gel blush such as By Terry’s Cellularose Blush Glace. Add a swipe of By Terry Hyaluronic Rouge Lipstick across the lips for a spring forward look that is perfectly fresh and pretty!

At Last! How to Really Protect Your Skin While Traveling

As spring approaches, so too do the skin woes associated with seasonal shifts—all of which are compounded by inevitable spring travel. Whether skin is dehydrated, dull, or just plain irritated, Dr. Philippe Allouche has the fix. As Director of Innovation for Biologique Recherche, the high-tech Parisian skin-care brand whose products and treatments are found at the top spas around the world, Allouche knows secrets to glowing skin, no matter where you go.

1. You travel the globe meeting with clients and searching for new skin-care technologies. Tell me, what happens to skin during a flight?

When traveling, skin becomes dehydrated and dull due to climatic changes, long-haul flights, modifications in diet, additional stresses, etc. Pressurized airline cabins also contain less oxygen, which inhibits water retention and is damaging to skin. I always say you need a strict skincare routine to combat dehydration while on the road. Look for products that reduce sensitivity, and always use a moisturizer in-flight—not just a water-based formula, but one that also contains lipids, which provide elasticity and protect against water loss.

2.  What are the smartest things someone can do before, during, and after a flight to help protect skin?

Before: Prevention is key. Two weeks prior to travel, start incorporating serums into your skin-care regimen that are designed to prevent skin reactions.

During: Your in-flight ritual should be based on light exfoliation, powerful hydration, and protection. During long-haul flights, use a mild cleanser designed for sensitive skin. I always carry on Biologique Recherche L’Eauxygenante. It’s a facial spray that’s packed with antioxidants and oxygenating Vitamins A and C, extracted from Orange and Kiwi cells. I spritz this on my skin several times during a flight. I’ll also cover my face with a serum (again, one that’s designed for sensitive skin) to prevent irritation and moisturize the epidermis.

After: Once on the ground, use something that will gently exfoliate, hydrate, and protect. Always pack products that contain a strong concentration of anti-inflammatory active ingredients, plus sun protection. (Try Biologique Recherche’s P50V lotion, a gentler version of our P50 balancing exfoliator.)

3.  What’s the biggest skin-care mistake someone can make in-flight?

Flight attendants may offer you a warm towel to wipe your hands and face while airborne. I always tell clients not to use this on the face, since skin adversely reacts to heat, leading to an imbalance. Instead, ask for a cold towel to refresh, or use micellar water—a cult French product that removes makeup and cleanses the skin without having to rinse.

4. Any common misconceptions when it comes to skincare in the U.S.?

Extractions are very big in North America. Aestheticians frequently suggest that clients “clean” their pores before traveling. But flying at 30,000 feet in a dry atmosphere can cause bad reactions if your skin is recently extracted. Not to mention if you’re headed to a hot and humid climate, your skin may have trouble healing, which could worsen things. If extractions are vital to your routine, my advice is to schedule a treatment at least one month before traveling.

5. Your top five Biologique packing essentials?

Lait VIP O2: An anti-pollution facial cleanser that eliminates impurities, calms the epidermis, and unifies the complexion. It’s ideal for those headed to dry climates, or places with lots of pollution—and especially for frequent travelers with stressed, devitalized skin.

Lotion P50W: A gentle exfoliating lotion that helps to brighten, purify, tone, hydrate, and maintain the acid pH of the epidermis.

L’eauxygenante: A moisturizing, antioxidant, and oxygenating mist that stimulates the epidermis and envelops it in a protective veil.

Crème VIP 02: The ultimate hydrating cream, which contains an oxygenating complex to protect skin against pollution.

BioKiss: A soothing lip balm that moisturizes, revitalizes, and protects the lips from climatic aggressions.

6. What’s your No. 1 skincare secret?

Danuta’s Few Simple Steps To Glowing Skin For the Holiday Season

The holiday season is in full swing and with hectic schedules caring for ones skin can be challenging. These are some tips I’d like to share for maintaining looking your best.

1. Prep work first. Good cleansing is your shortcut to beautiful skin.  Pick the right cleanser (I like Lait VIP O2 this season) really work your cleanser in because massaging will boost circulation.  I recommend double cleansing at night to ensure all the makeup and grime is off.

2. Rebalance. Legendary P50 1970 does an amazing job at balancing the PH, refining pores, and restoring suppleness.  Use a cotton pad with upward sweeping motions, lifting face muscles and working outward.  Lifting upward is like a workout for your face.  Having good skin is a lot about circulation so a natural blush after P50 is a plus.  This product truly transforms the skin.

3. Supercharge. Serums are sure way to provide your skin with potent ingredients, vitamins, peptides, and antioxidants.  Because their molecular structure is much smaller they penetrate the epidermis better than heavy creams.  My favorite is LeGrand Serum.  It’s a splurge worthy powerhouse for this season.

4. Winter Proof Skin. My new winter favorite multitasker is Masque Vernix.  This formula changes peoples skin.  Its formulated to mimic the protective skin barrier in newborn babies.  Containing essential complex ingredients such as amino acids, it’s like nutrition for baby soft skin.  It has a rich texture so using less is more.

5. You are what you eat. If your digestion isn’t working the body has a hard time absorbing nutrients.  A well functioning digestive system is essential to an anti-aging regime.  Nutrients play a key note in your elasticity and collagen production.  Greens aid digestion resulting in radiant skin.  Lean protein & Amino acid rich foods improve overall health of your skin, hair & nails.  Probiotics replenish good bacteria.  Load up on yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, and fermented vegetables.  Take magnesium too, it supports healthy beauty sleep, keeping the hormones young.  Omega 3 fatty acids are great for your heart and healthy looking skin as well.

6.  Flexibility & Attitude. Looking and feeling great this festive season can be improved by adding stretching or yoga to your workout routine.  A positive relaxed attitude helps us sparkle.

Wishing You HAPPY HEALTHY HOLIDAYS!
