Everything I Used To Get Perfect Skin On My Wedding Day – The Cut

“Celebrities are always raving about their facialists, but what about those of us who can’t afford to go to the spa every other day? Ashley introduced me to Rescue Spa, which has been a godsend. It’s reasonably priced, and owner Danuta Mieloch knows her shit. (Oh, and Naomi Campbell was casually checking out the first time I walked in.)

Mieloch has a realistic approach that’s easy to manage on your own. Her team recommended that I invest in steamer to cleanse and hydrate my skin, so I bought one from Dr. Dennis Gross. I set the 15-minute timer and leave it running when I cleanse my skin on weekends. Since I started using it, I’ve seen a real improvement in my pore size and skin texture.

The steamer opens my pores up for the Biologique Recherche Masque Vivant, which I leave on for 20 minutes. Read any reviews on this mask and you’ll know it’s got a cult following — for good reason. Within a month of steaming, my face stopped breaking out as much. I’d even lost all the pimples hidden underneath my skin’s surface, which I’d been trying to shed for months. When I wash this stuff off and immediately follow it with Vintner’s Daughter Oil, I look like I got a facial for half the price.”

YouTube Tutorial: How To Multi-Mask

Do you want your skin care to work double duty? Then you need to try Multi Masking!
It’s SO easy to Multi-Mask with Masques Vivant & VIP O2

With increasing stress and pollution levels, most people no longer fit into just one basic skin type, making combination skin types more common and the sophistication of treatments more complex. Skin changes with the seasons and, with it, you need to adapt your regimen; simply using one mask to fix it all is not enough.

The solution? Multi Masking!

Having these BR masks in your at-home arsenal will prepare you to tackle whatever your skin has in store for you, no matter the season!

Masque Vivant is beautiful all around. It works on all skin types! Use it in the t-zone for a multi-masking purpose. It contains high concentrations of yeast, cucumber, and witch hazel extracts that give it purifying and balancing properties.

Masque VIP O2 is magical! Having an oxygenating effect, it is hydrating, radiance revealing and amazing for reducing dullness and fatigue in drier, stressed out skin. Use it under and around the eyes. The formula is rich in moisturizing botanical ingredients and contains an Oxygenating Complex which stimulates epidermal regeneration and revitalizes the skin. Imperative for city dwellers.

You can also MIX Vivant & VIP O2 masks. When combined they work double duty to hydrate, purify, balance, moisturize and oxygenate the skin.

What Is Multi-Masking?

Multi-Masking = Customized Home Facial.

With increasing stress and pollution levels, most people no longer fit into just one basic skin type, making combination skin types more common and the sophistication of treatments more complex. Skin changes with the seasons and, with it, you need to adapt your regimen; simply using one mask to fix it all is not enough.

Here are some solutions:

Biologique Recherché products have been my go-to for years now and having some of the BR masks in your at-home arsenal will prepare you to tackle whatever your skin has in store for you this season!

Masque Vivant is beautiful all around. I wrote a separate article on it that you can read here. I like using it in the t-zone for the multi-masking purpose, and it works on all skin types!

I like using it under and around the eyes. The formula is rich in moisturizing botanical ingredients and contains an Oxygenating Complex which stimulates epidermal regeneration and revitalizes the skin. Quick tip: use a pea size of Masque Vernix; apply it on the lips for immediate dryness reduction.

Masque Biomagic is also great for an instant lift! It can be used all over before a night out for its purifying and tightening properties and can also be applied on the chin and forehead during a multi-masking session. It is an energizing face treatment formulated with a subtle combination of mineral and terrestrial ingredients. It leaves the skin glowing, soft and purified.

For the Valmont admirer, Renewing Pack is nothing less than excellent! I save it for the night before special events or as a Sunday quick, pick-me-up treat. It’s rebalancing formula gives the skin an instant beauty boost! A Renewing Pack could be used in combination with the Purifying Pack and Clarifying Pack for the multi-masking purposes. Application varies based on your specific skin needs.

Having at least three of these masks in your medicine cabinet can give you a customized facial treatment at home any time you crave it!

Remember, everyone’s skin is unique! Use masks in the areas needed with a benefit in mind or use all over and your skin will thank you! I hope the multi-masking will become as integrated part of skincare maintenance for you as it did for me.

Relax and recharge with a well deserved daycation at Rescue Spa…

Look and feel as though you’ve just spent a week on an exotic resort.
~

We’ve all been there.  You’re a slave to the daily grind and the only escape you can imagine is a far flung exotic vacation.  Perhaps your instagram feed full of pristine beaches and tropical cocktails is to blame.  Before you clear a week from your schedule and travel half way around the world do yourself and your wallet a favor by booking a spa daycation!  Yes, a rejuvenating haven exists in Center City.  Allow us to show you the way…

Start things off with a  Scrub & Rub body treatment.  An invigorating full body exfoliation to detoxify and enhance.  Next, prepare to unwind with a sense enhancing aromatherapy massage.  Aromatic oils and light touch restore balance and harmony to mind and body.  Your esthetician of choice will leave your skin absolutely radiant with a Rescue Full Spectrum Facial.  Microdermabrasion, micro-currents, and LED Light Therapy light therapy to encourage cell regeneration, enhance elastin production, as well as immediately tone and lift the skin.  This head-to-toe experience even leaves your hands and feet pampered as they receive a Ultimate Manicure and Pedicure with rejuvenating mask and relaxing massage.  Choose trend color from our extensive collection of designer lacquers.  After a few mere hours spent at Rescue Spa you will look and feel if you just spent a week on an exotic resort… and emerge fully relaxed, newly improved and with a luminous glow.
DIY daycation – the Ritual

To begin unwind with an epsom salt soak.  Adding a few cups of epsom salt to warm bath water aids in exfoliating skin and soothes sore muscles.  Another great relaxation tool is self massage.  Warm your preferred oil and spend at least 15-20 minutes mindfully massaging the body, paying particular attention to the hands and feet.  This will help stimulate various reflexology and pressure points linked to various body parts.  There is good reason that massage has globally been an essential component of well being and vitality for centuries. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again.  A daily skin care routine is essential.  Daily maintenance and diligence allow for luminous results, now and for years to come.  Boost your regimen once a week by performing your own facial following these steps:

1.  Double cleanse.  Massage Lait VIP O2 onto dry skin (over makeup) for a good sixty seconds. Splash. Emulsify.  Remove with a warm wet wash cloth or Konjac.  Repeat.

2.  Tone/Exfoliate/Hydrate/Balance:  Biologique Recherche P50 1970 exfoliating toner to a cotton into skin in an upward motion, repeating until the pad comes away clean.  This step alone is a game changer.  Try this technique on half of your face in order to truly observe the lifting results.

  • ***Do a double pass.  This allows for your skin to really absorb the benefits of P50 1970, which in turn prepares the skin for the next step…

3.  Mask.  Mixing Masque Vivant with Masque VIP O2  is a favorite of many beauty editors, is suitable for does double duty allowing skin to reap the brightening benefits of VIP 02 as well as the purifying benefits of Vivant.

4.  Massage.  Spend 5 minutes massaging the face with Valmont Renewing Pack in order to increase circulation.

5.  Replenish.  Follow with the serum of your choice.  For added results, mix and match multiple serums to address multiple concerns.

  • Oily Skin:  Complexe Iribiol.
  • Redness & Rosacea:  Serum Erythros.
  • Hyperpigmentation:  Super “H” Serum by 3Lab.
  • Hydration & Glow:  Use Serum Fluide VIP O2 as a finishing
serum to seal in hydration and oxygenation. Excellent for all skin
types and extremely important for city dwellers!

6.  Moisturize.  Apply your preferred moisturizer.

“vivanting”

vivant
Vivant means living or alive in French and it’s no surprise why BR selected that name for one of its best performing masques. It’s packed with Yeast and Witch Hazel and is exceptional for purifying, balancing and brightening the skin. Masque Vivant is a regular in my routine and a few times a year I attempt a masque Vivant challenge that I am inviting you to also join!

Here are some quick tips for a successful “vivanting”:

Stay on a schedule. My masque Vivant challenge lasts 7 days; I start on Monday and finish on Sunday. Sticking to a week schedule helps to stay consistent.

Team up with a friend! There’s nothing more fun than sending one another Vivant selfies at night to make sure you both completed the challenge.

Do not stop half way! If you see a breakout or a pimple, do not stop. It’s a sign that your skin is clearing itself from all the impurities.

Keep up with the results. Once the challenge is over and you are left with  the renewed skin, don’t forget to use masque Vivant a few times a week.

Samantha Lowe’s Fall Skincare Regimen

fall skincare regimenAs the seasons change,  so does my skin care routine.  Lait U and P50 1970 every morning and evening. Valmont face scrub followed by Masque Visolastine E. every 4 days and in between, Masque Vivant. Yes, I do something extra for my skin everyday.  Both masks can stay on for 10-20 minutes. Masking and exfoliating on the same night is a really wonderful way to give your skin the added punch of active ingredients. That’s why P50 1970 should be used daily. Even that slight exfoliation will increase the efficacy of all of your products. I will continue this probably through October.

And that’s just the beginning. The truth is,  after the basic cleanse, exfoliate and tone; hydration, serums and sun protection always baffle clients. In the evening, I think of repairing my skin.  Clarifying Surge from Valmont and Intensive Alpha Hydroxy Cream from Environ alternated for this darn sun damage. I always use Valmont Prime Contour or Factor 3 under my eyes at night. During the day, Factor 2. All from Valmont. Day cream is Creme ADN Elastine Marine Collagene Marin and Complex Royal, layered from BR. Now that fall is truly here, I’m going to modify my daily SPF. The Mineral Spray from Dr. Gross is an SPF 50. Normally I would go down to a 30 but because of my sun damage,  I will be getting a few photo facials in the coming months.
Check back in November to see what winter has in store for my skin!

Rescue Esthetician,
Samantha Lowe

Prepping for a big event? Here is everything you need to know.

b50ac69a_edit_img_facebook_post_image_file_16668654_1436917983_JFiasz.fbshare

Hair? Check.  Shoes? Check.  Skin? Not so much?  Whether you have scored an interview for a job you’ve worked your whole career for or are a bridesmaid in yet another wedding we all want to look our best.  If you haven’t been keeping up with a consistent ritual, I recommend a facial 2-4 weeks before the event.  Never underestimate beautiful skin. It can be your best accessory.

To get started, I turn to some Rescue favorites. First begin with fresh, clean skin.  Lait U from Biologique Recherche is a gentle,  vegetal based cleanser perfect for removing makeup and preparing skin for exfoliation. Oily, congested and dull skin will benefit from a second cleanse using the 5% Glycolic cleanser from Anthony Brands. Massage in and leave on for 2 minutes for extra exfolliation. Follow with a healthy application of P50 1970. The tingle alone will get you excited for what comes next. Apply a nice layer of Prime Renewing Pack from Valmont, lie down and massage. I like to elevate my knees for a true Rescue experience. Take about 5 minutes to relax and plan your look.
If you have oily skin, Masque Vivant for 15 minutes will liven up most complexions.  More combination skins will benefit from Masque VIP o2. (Or you could mix them together for a truly brightening experience.) Complex Royal over the moisturizer of your choice will be sure to make you glow. If you are a nervous Nelly and suffer from hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) Anthony Brands makes a product for you.  Apply No Sweat Body Defense to your forehead, back or under your bust to keep you dry and comfortable during the big event.  Now, the next part is easy. Take a deep breath and don’t forget to smile.

Samantha Lowe
