For those that can’t read Spanish here is a (super) rough Google translation:

To follow maltratándonos with Caro we went straight to our invitation to Rescue Spa. A very exclusive Spa in downtown Philly where its owner (Danuta Mieloch, beautiful polish with more than 20 years in USA) decided to do something well done for All the women. The spa features services: manicure, pedicure, facial, massage, makeup, eyebrow shaping, sauna, steam showers, coffee bar and snacks and a boutique with the best anti-aging creams.

Vida Colon, an American Latina with an enviable skin, made the tour of the wonders of all brands of French and Swiss origin that has Rescue. Between these feature Cellcosmet, Valmont and Biologique Recherche (the favorite of the owner, so I have many expectations placed on it). Cellcosmet is Swiss and uses cells preserved for lighting and skin rejuvenation and Valmont also cell targets more cosmetic components using glacier water.

But overall Rescue has more than 30 exclusive brands and very “high end” that be honest you do not know where to start!

We started so important: a shaped eyebrows with awarded by Vogue Magazine, Maria Gulraiz. Very talented and passionate, Maria outlined eyebrows and taught with a passion that I have rarely seen. And while it was his good time in my eyebrows (also dyed with natural henna to give me a look more density) the result was perfect! My mom has always taken me away from those eyebrows thin almost drawn, and Maria shares the philosophy that a thick eyebrow and well profiled gives a youthful and natural appearance.

And to end our stay of almost 3 hours in the spa, we found an exquisite sauna and were clothed in white robes.

We had the most perfect manicure I’ve in these lands. Today, more than 2 weeks have gone even have it in my hands as I write (a miracle).

Definitely the experience was amazing and one can hardly accustom with Rescue excellence Spa. I miss at least.

What’s the deal with Biolift?

Biolift is essentially one giant upgrade to your traditional classic facial here at Rescue, and here’s why: electricity!! In the City of Brotherly Love, where our own Ben Franklin first harnessed the electric power of lightening, we here at Rescue are doing essentially the same for your face.

Sound a little intense for you? I thought so too. So I booked myself a Biolift with our very own esthetician Joanna Kula (Ben Franklin was booked for the day) to test it out – her credentials are pretty stacked, so I knew I was in good hands.

We started with a little Lait U cleanse, which for the record feels 1000 times better when a professional applies it. Joanna followed with the Valmont Face Scrub, full of tiny exfoliating granules that left my face feeling buffed clean and new, not to mention it smells like a dream. Of course, the ever-renowned P50 1970 followed. Joanna basically gave my face a bath in this toner, pressing the drenched cotton round into my skin to really deliver the product (a technique I’ve been trying to replicate). I can’t actually afford to spread that much P50 on myself every day, nor does Joanna recommend it, but for the occasional facials, the P50 party on my face felt phenomenal.

Then for the big shebang: the Biolift!!!

The electric current is delivered through two sponges that Joanna keeps in constant motion on the face. In areas that could use a little extra love, like the eyes, frown lines, jawline or the brow, she plumps the skin by using a pumping motion to really activate the muscles. That’s the sweet thing about Biolift – the electric current activates muscles in the face, penetrating the layers of the skin. Joanna explained it like this: Biolift is like going to the gym. If you work your muscles at the gym one time, you aren’t going to see lasting results. But if you go all the time, your muscles will build. And when its muscles on your face you’re beefing up, that means bye bye sagging skin, hello cheekbones!

And if you’re closer to my age and don’t quite have wrinkles that need filling or a jawline that needs tightening, fear not!! Biolift is still an amazing service for you. Not only will those few stress lines be filled for your big event – like seriously by permanent brow furrow was erased – but you will walk out of there with glowing, radiant skin. My face felt baby soft (it still does, a week later), fuller in all the right places, and finally hydrated possibly for the first time in my life. And it’s all thanks to the fact that Biolift’s electric currents send the products already on the skin even deeper into the epidermis – more so than a normal facial could. And who couldn’t benefit from that?

I cannot stress how beneficial Biolift is for younger women, as well as women with more mature skin. If you don’t believe me, take it from Joanna, who says “It is a great preventative treatment, especially for those who want to avoid plastic surgery later on. It helps to combat not only the effects of gravity on the face, but also helps stimulate collagen production, which is the reason why skin becomes saggy in the first place. Women start to lose collagen very rapidly in their 30s and it just goes downhill from there, which is why prevention is the so important early on.”

After the Biolift treatment, she spread Oligo-Proteines Marines Serum over my skin (amazing for dark circles), followed by Vip O2 Creme (light and oxygenating), finished with Serum Fluide VIP O2 for that million dollar glow.

If you’ve got a big night out on the horizon, I cannot recommend this service more. It’s the perfect quick lift for any special occasion that will have people begging you for your skincare regimen. In the wise words of that guy from Men’ Warehouse, “You’re gonna like the way you look. I guarantee it.”

CellTeint: the unicorn of tinted moisturizers

I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never met a tinted moisturizer I like. They’re either all moisture and no tint, or they provide some strange form of streaky coverage that never quite sits right on my skin. I always have the distinct feeling while I’m applying tinted moisturizers (or any foundation for that matter) that I’m just reversing the skincare efforts I work so hard to maintain. But a girl needs coverage, plain and simple.

Is there no hope for the makeup-wearing, skin-conscious women of the world??

Fear not, because I’ve found the solution: CellTeint by Cellcosmet. Thank the powers that be for Swiss research, because they’ve produced the happiest medium I didn’t think was possible.

I used shade 01 Opal #palegirlproblems

CellTeint is awesome because it’s more than your wannabe tinted moisturizers. It’s ultra hydrating while it actively revitalizes the skin with bio-integral cells that fire all day long. That’s Swiss skincare jargon for anti-aging to the max – it actually plumps and firms the skin. How amazing is that?

Much to my surprise, this tinted moisturizer applies beautifully and evenly, and it self-adjusts to your specific skin tone. CellTeint is strong enough to provide buildable coverage for those areas that need a little extra help (we’ve all got em). And it leaves the skin with a healthy, hydrated glow — so much so that Danuta complimented my skin. That’s like Anna Wintour telling you “Cute shoes”. When she says it, you know it’s real.

What’s even better is that it feels fantastic when you apply. CellTeint left my skin tingling for about an hour after I applied it, almost like P50 does. Not in an uncomfortable way, just a nice little reminder that my skin was alive, awake and working – and for me to feel any of those things before 8am is nothing short of a small miracle. That’s the bio-cells working for ya.

It stayed on evenly all day long and never settled into my pores or fine lines, unlike most foundations I’ve ever tried. And I didn’t feel like I was clogging up my skin with makeup because CellTeint has active minerals that nourish and hydrate the skin, while making it look flawless.

Can you tell I’m a fan?

One caveat I will say is that Cellcosmet is a line generally geared towards more mature skin than mine. As a 23 year old saying this, that’s a huge margin, so don’t let that make you feel bad. CellTeint is keratinizing, which is great for skin that could use more plumping and firming. Unfortunately for me, the formula was a little too rich for me to use this product every day, but it is perfect for skin a bit more mature than mine so don’t let that dissuade you! I would bathe in this stuff every day if I could.

So come on in and see what all the hype is about, or just visit our online store at, conveniently open 24hrs a day at your fingertips 🙂

Fashionista Philly Talks ‘Summer Skincare’ with Esthetician Joana Kula

Fashionista Philly met with Rescue aesthetician Joanna Kula for some great summer skincare advice…

In the city of Philadelphia, there are mediocre over priced spas where you can get your nails done or maybe an okay facial. Toppers anyone? Ouch no comment.. But if you want the best of the best you head over to 1601 Walnut street to Rescue Spa. Ever since Rescue opened its doors back in 2004, it has ranked as one of the best spas in Philadelphia. The Owner Danuta Mieloch is a skin care genius who trained under the renown Dr. Yvan Allouche in Paris. As soon as you enter Rescue, you feel whisked away from the busy streets of Philadelphia into a secret beautiful and serene setting where the staff caters attentively to their clients. Rescue is my go to spa, and their facials are such a treat for your skin especially with the changing seasons. The summer time is no exception to when your skin needs extra attention. Lucky for all my followers Rescue aesthetician Joanna Kula stopped by to offer some great advice and info for all you skin care lovers:

Q: What are the most common skincare problems that surface up in the summer?
A: Summer always comes with many skin problems, mainly increased oiliness and tendency towards breakouts due to sweat, humidity and environmental elements. I also see a lot of dark spots and pigmentation from increased UV exposure, sometimes dryness and dehydration from indoor air conditioning.

Q: We often hear that should you adjust your skincare from winter to summer is this always true and what are some great tips to help make the transition smooth?
A: If you live in a seasonal climate, where the temperature shifts from one extreme to the other, changing your skincare routine is definitely a good idea. I recommend switching to lighter products that are more water-based during the summer months. If you live somewhere that is warm or cool most of the year, you can tweak your routine as needed, but it may not need to change too much. A professional facial will help keep your skin in optimum shape and help it transition better.

Q: What are some great summer skincare products that you recommend to your clients this time of year?
A: Biologique Recherche Fluide VIP O2: a light moisturizing fluid that instantly plumps, hydrates and oxygenates the skin. It creates a perfect canvas for makeup, but can also be used on its own as a lightweight moisturizer.

Jan Marini Physical Protectant: this in my opinion, is the perfect sunscreen. It’s a sheer, non-greasy formula with purely physical filters and a broad-spectrum SPF 45. It contains micro-sponges to absorb excess oil, along with antioxidants to help combat free radicals. The best part is that it’s tinted, so it doesn’t go on white or pasty. Apply it over a light moisturizer and you’re pretty much good to go, no foundation required.

Valmont DNA Repair Serum: if you spent a little too much time in the
sun, this serum will help prevent long-term damage. Use it at night to boost cell regeneration and promote healing.

Dr. Dennis Gross Glow Pads: These exfoliating alpha-beta peel pads will not only get your skin smooth and clear, but will add a touch of summer glow to your complexion, without the UV damage.

Q: Sunscreen is very important during the summer but finding the right sunscreen can be tricky, not all sunscreens are created equal what sunscreen brand do you prefer and why?
A: For me, a good facial sunscreen must be effective and cosmetically elegant, meaning that it can layer easily with other products like moisturizer and foundation. It should not look obvious on the skin or feel heavy and sticky. You always want to look for a broad-spectrum formula with SPF 30 or higher. Jan Marini, Institut Esthederm and Natura Bisse lines all offer some great options and can be found at

Q: This is the time of year when people go away on travel, what are some great travel tips for readers to help keep their skin in good shape while traveling?
A: Staying hydrated is key. Traveling can really deplete your skin of precious water and nutrients and in some cases can be extreme depending on the destination as well as the means of travel. I always recommend Valmont Prime Renewing Pack as an emergency skin saver for frequent travelers. It’s a mask/cream that can be massaged in and left on overnight. It does wonders for tired, dehydrated skin.

Q: Rescue Spa has been a big success since it first opened in the city. What do you think is the key to your success?
A: I think one reason Rescue Spa has been so successful is due to its high standards and the level of integrity not found in other spas. Rescue is not about gimmicks. From the amazing products, to the knowledgeable team of experts who are passionate about what they do, Rescue has constantly delivered on its promise and I think that is what keeps clients coming back.

Q: What are some important things readers should look for when selecting a spa?
A: #1: A professional, courteous and knowledgeable team who show
enthusiasm for their work and can provide a relaxing and comfortable experience for the client.  #2: Cleanliness: I cannot stress enough the importance of this detail.  If there is any doubt that a spa is not following proper standards or regulations, I would not take the risk.  #3: A good spa should offer a range of products suited for all skin types as well as services that can be customized to a client’s specific needs. Instead of a standard “cookie cutter” approach, the therapists must be able to ask the right questions and adapt the treatments accordingly.

Q: How often should a person stop in for a facial throughout the year?
A: Anywhere from monthly to seasonally is appropriate depending on the person’s lifestyle and budget. Being consistent is the most important thing to remember. Also following a good home care regimen will help to maintain the results in between treatments.

Q: Are there any new services/products you want to talk about being
offered at your spa now, and any upcoming events?
A: We are currently offering the following summer specials:

Q: What are some of your most popular services that are offered at rescue spa?
A: Rescue is known for its facials, but offers a full menu of services
from waxing to massage, body treatments, nails, hair and makeup.

You can spend an entire day here and literally feel like a million dollars when you walk out. There is something for everyone, even men.

Special thanks to Joanna and the staff at Rescue!

Save your back and feet at Rescue Spa

Philadelphia is a city bursting with art, food and color. The second largest city on the East Coast and the fifth most populous city in the country, the birthplace of America is also one of the most walkable cities in the United States. Between the Old City to Center City, there are tons of art galleries and museums to check out, plenty of shopping, and gorgeous buildings best viewed out in the clear. What that means, however, is that visitors might feel a little sore after a day of pounding the pavement. Which is a perfect excuse to check out one of Philly’s many raved about day spas! From simple pedis to Swedish massages, facials to make-overs for a special date night, or just a detoxifying and thoroughly relaxing massage for travel-worn and airplane-cramped traveler, there are tons of spas to choose from, particularly in Center City and the Old City.

Save your back and feet at Rescue Spa

Amidst the trendy art galleries and retail shopping of Chestnut and Walnut streets is an airy and lofty urban oasis wherein highly qualified aestheticians dole out what regular Philadelphian spa-goers hail as the best facials in the city. The founder and star facialist, Danuta Mieloch, has a pristine resume that spans over 20 years in her native Poland, Paris, and then New York. A “classic rescue facial” session with her and her hand-picked expert staff begins with an in-depth skin analysis and then a totally customized skin treatment using their natural “manual lift” facial massage technique. Beyond the classic, they offer bio-lift facials, microdermabrasion, a “high performance” facial which integrates all of their treatments, back facials, oxygenating facials, and all the other spa offerings like massages, body treatments, hair removal, makeup and laser. A vast number of their clientele are the types who get Rescued regularly, but any trip to Rescue Spa is sure to be a real treat!
