Mama, Love Your Skin!

As a busy working mom of 2 in the skin care industry, it’s important for me to feel good and look refreshed, hydrated, and youthful. Repeatedly, I hear moms say they don’t have time to take care of their skin. They don’t even have time to wash their face. Yet they want to age gracefully and have youthful skin. It’s time to take the time.

I have a few simple steps that are quick and easy to do. I’ve kept it simple so you will keep on taking the time to care for your skin.

Because it is important.
Because you are worth it.

  • Cleansing- Cellcosmet gentle cream cleanser.
It has jojoba oil and rose flower water. I find it to be a nice way to remove eye make-up and over all cleanse without stripping you of your natural oils.
  • Always double cleanse.
  • Toner- p50 pigm 400.
Keeps skin balanced, even toned. Helps lighten those skin spots most mamas relate to and preps the skin for your next product.
  • Over the entire face – Cellcosmet ultra vital.
It’s light and over-all hydrating without feeling greasy.
  • Daily face protectant.
I have been liking Jan Marini, antioxidants, broad spectrum, SPF 33.
  • A little bonus, new to me and a favorite, Vintner’s Daughter active-botanical serum.  It helps to reduce signs of aging, strengthens collagen, and delivers oxygen to the cells to help protect the skin. I’ll use this a few times a week, especially if I’m outdoors that day.

I hope this helps the mamas in the world. The truth is, at this point in my life, I would rather get compliments on my skin than on a new pair shoes.

Baby Bump

The day I found out I was pregnant I made it my latest hobby.  Like most new moms to
be I started my research.  I looked into what foods to eat, the best exercises and yoga, coffee or no coffee; anything and everything to keep me and the baby healthy, safe, and happy. It can be rather overwhelming.  When it came to skin care I realized I had to be mindful of what I was using, as whatever you put on your skin will be absorbed into your body and blood stream, and will find its way into your developing baby.

Your body is surging with hormones, which is producing a variety of changes.  You
may see changes in your skin like you’ve never experienced. Therefor, your skin care
regimen will have to change to help your skin look and feel better. I highly recommend a nice cream cleanser by Biologique Recherche – Lait U. It will thoroughly cleanse your skin without stripping you of your natural oils. After cleansing, use the Cellcosmet Activator Gel, followed by the Cellcosmet Active Tonic Lotion. The combination of these two products will brighten and help balance the pH in your skin. Finishing off your regimen with Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre, a combination of natural active ingredients which is also paraben free. If you’re focusing on breakouts and oily combination skin, I recommend the original P-50, which is advised for women who are pregnant or nursing as it does not contain phenol.  Follow this with Dermopurifiante from Biologique Recherche.

Last but not least, let’s not forget about your body. As your baby grows, so will your
baby bump. Your skin will become tight and itchy. What will help get you through those long, dry nights? A nice exfoliating scrub. I really enjoyed the purifying Himalayan salt scrub by Rituals. After you thoroughly dry off, Rituals also make a wonderful body cream that is very hydrating and nourishing.

What is most important is to keep it simple and try to stay calm and relaxed. Remember that if it’s a happy mommy, it’s a happy baby.

Spring is on its way…

Spring is on its way. As the warm fresh air hits my face for the first time this week, I was finally able to take off a few layers of clothing. Thankfully I said “so long” to my hat and winter coat. This winter has been long, cold and very dry. We have our dry skin to show for it.

The next season means less clothes and more skin. It’s time to get out our fun sun dresses, summer tops, and swimsuits! Keeping up with a good home regimen on our face and hopefully getting into the spa a few times for a facial is important, but what about our backs? This is where a back facial can help.

Rescue’s Back Facial is one of my favorite services and it’s often overlooked. It is 45 minutes of a fully relaxing, while overall rejuvenating experience!! We will start off with a thorough analysis so we can determine exactly what products will be best for you. From there it is a combination of deep cleansing; exfoliation using the proper p50 product for your skin; balance and prep of the skin; followed by a beautiful massage with the renewing pack to help hydrate and brighten. Your Rescue Back Facial finishes with a mask best suited for your skin needs to help hydrate and balance your skin. From start to finish you will be completely taken care of, and you will leave feeling rejuvenated, and ready for the spring.

Men need facials too…

Now that Valentine’s day is around the corner I was thinking it’s pretty easy for men to get a gift for their ladies… but for us it’s always a struggle.  In my years as an esthetician I have noticed that the men who come to me for facials love it!!! Usually they come in because they received a gift from their wife or girlfriend, etc….. Men need facials too, it just takes them one time for them to keep coming back. Rescue Spa has such a nice atmosphere which is gender neutral that allows men to feel more comfortable. There is a steam room that is such a plus with men that work out and take care of themselves. If we also want to talk about a product that is good for men, of course the p50 1970 helps ingrown hair and razor burn and the dermopurifiante for a cream; it’s good for combination skin, reduces redness and regulates oil production. Seems to me a go-to for men.
