What to get: Oxylight Facial
$500 (For a more budget-friendly option, try the Biolift Facial for $200)
“Rescue Spa’s lead esthetician Diana Yerkes calls the Oxylight Facial the ‘red carpet facial’ for a reason—if you want to come out of the spa looking like Bella Hadid, without a doubt this is the way to go. This facial combines a handful of modalities including Microcurrents, LED Light Therapy, Oxygen Therapy, Biosonix Ultrasound, and Negative Pressure Therapy. What do all those words mean, you ask? First of all, each is non-invasive, meaning no downtime and no irritation/red spots. It’s meant to take celebs (aka, you) straight from the spa to the red carpet (ahem, aisle). Before starting any treatments, Yerkes looked at my skin to asses my needs: i.e. HYDRATION!!! No matter how much mist and hyaluronic acid I douse myself in, estheticians always come at me with, “Hmm, you’re looking pretty dehydrated…” After a series of masks and a vigorous neck and face massage with Biologique Recherche’s cult classic P50 1970 toner, Yerkes used the Biosonix Ultrasound wand set on three rotating LED light colors specifically for my skin needs: red to combat fine lines and wrinkles, green for hyper-pigmentation (aka sun damage from my Florida childhood), and purple to reduce inflammation and promote collagen production. Then, we moved on to the microcurrent portion using the Biologique Recherche machine to stimulate the muscles of my face to lift and contour (also used in the Biolift Facial). It feels a little weird and tingly, and when the probes go near your mouth your spit will taste metallic, but overall it’s pretty low-key for high-key results. Then I was back to LED, this time under a large panel with the same rotating colors, accompanied by a steady stream of cool oxygen. At first it was a bit intense (the lights are very bright and the goggles very small) but after about a minute, it became extremely meditative—any yogi will know that feeling of super-calmness when doing deep breath work (plus, a hand and foot massage came with it, NBD). When I looked in the mirror, to be totally honest, I was astounded. I’ve legit never looked better, and never gotten so many compliments on my skin. The glow and overall firmness was so dramatic that I wore nothing but mascara for the next two weeks. The next time I want baby skin and have $500 to drop, Rescue will be my first stop.” —Aviel Kanter, Senior Digital Editor
