A Master Facialists 3 Simple Rules For Glowing Skin This Holiday Season

Her craft is all about the ‘art of the genuine.’ –Thrive Global

1. Cleanse your skin thoroughly at night to take all the party makeup off. I recommend double cleansing to be extra thorough. My mom used to preach “If you don’t cleanse your skin at night you age 7 days faster.”

2. You only have one skin, look after it. Create a daily ritual of cleansing, layering your serums and moisturizing.

3. You only have one life, live it beautifully. Make time to relax, sleep, eat well, exercise, and have beautiful experiences.

YouTube Tutorial: How To Apply Biologique Recherche Finishing Serum Silk Plus

“Unifies the complexion. Firms the skin and leaves it smoother”

Biologique Recherche Serum Silk Plus is a moisturizing, smoothing serum that contains high concentrations of regenerating agents, Hyaluronic Acid, Cucumber and Silk extracts which really soothe the skin and leave it feeling silky soft! It is recommended for all skin types.

Biologique Recherche Finishing Serums are used for the finishing touches and have very special formulations. They are sophisticated and glamorous and their precious formulas provide instant and lasting effects. They can be applied both under and over creams to give the skin a natural glow and radiance. These precious fluids contain botanical extracts with a variety of virtues, vitamins, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid as well as potent moisturizing and oxygenating DNA extracts. The finishing serums also stabilize the products applied during the Treatment Stage. They make an excellent base for make-up and are perfect for use on both a daily basis and for special events. Finishing serums prolong and protect the effects of the Biologique Recherche skin care products.

YouTube Tutorial: Complete Skincare Regimen

A complete daily skincare regimen is the best way to achieve healthy, balanced, and glowing skin. Watch this Youtube video to as Rescue esthetician Joanna Kula shows us how it’s done!

Cleanse: “Any good skincare regime begins with proper cleansing. I advise everyone to develop a cleansing ritual, which will serve as the necessary foundation of good skincare. Without it, you simply cannot achieve healthy, beautiful skin. Everyone can benefit from using a mild cleanser like Biologique Recherche Lait U. ” –Danuta Mieloch, Rescue Spa Founder

Tone and Exfoliate: “A cult favorite, Biologique Recherche’s P50 1970 is a magic potion that does it all. It exfoliates, hydrates and balances the pH of the skin and it’s a prep step before any skincare. For those of you who prefer granule exfoliators over acidic formulas, opt for Valmont Face Scrub and massage gently into skin to slough off that layer of dead skin cells.” – DM

Plump, lift and hydrate: “Serums are the most potent elixirs, lighter in texture with deeper penetration than creams, and they are great for replenishing. They can also extend the life of injectables by replenishing moisture on the outer layer.” – DM

Moisturize: “All skin types need hydration and a moisturizer. A good moisturizer shields and protects your skin from harmful daily aggressors to keep it young and supple. It’s like wearing stockings in the winter; very sheer yet protective. Don’t forget to use eye cream and moisturize your entire body, too.” – DM

Protection: “Don’t forget to use SPF daily!”– DM

Samantha Lowe’s Fall Skincare Regimen

fall skincare regimenAs the seasons change,  so does my skin care routine.  Lait U and P50 1970 every morning and evening. Valmont face scrub followed by Masque Visolastine E. every 4 days and in between, Masque Vivant. Yes, I do something extra for my skin everyday.  Both masks can stay on for 10-20 minutes. Masking and exfoliating on the same night is a really wonderful way to give your skin the added punch of active ingredients. That’s why P50 1970 should be used daily. Even that slight exfoliation will increase the efficacy of all of your products. I will continue this probably through October.

And that’s just the beginning. The truth is,  after the basic cleanse, exfoliate and tone; hydration, serums and sun protection always baffle clients. In the evening, I think of repairing my skin.  Clarifying Surge from Valmont and Intensive Alpha Hydroxy Cream from Environ alternated for this darn sun damage. I always use Valmont Prime Contour or Factor 3 under my eyes at night. During the day, Factor 2. All from Valmont. Day cream is Creme ADN Elastine Marine Collagene Marin and Complex Royal, layered from BR. Now that fall is truly here, I’m going to modify my daily SPF. The Mineral Spray from Dr. Gross is an SPF 50. Normally I would go down to a 30 but because of my sun damage,  I will be getting a few photo facials in the coming months.
Check back in November to see what winter has in store for my skin!

At Last! How to Really Protect Your Skin While Traveling

As spring approaches, so too do the skin woes associated with seasonal shifts—all of which are compounded by inevitable spring travel. Whether skin is dehydrated, dull, or just plain irritated, Dr. Philippe Allouche has the fix. As Director of Innovation for Biologique Recherche, the high-tech Parisian skin-care brand whose products and treatments are found at the top spas around the world, Allouche knows secrets to glowing skin, no matter where you go.

1. You travel the globe meeting with clients and searching for new skin-care technologies. Tell me, what happens to skin during a flight?

When traveling, skin becomes dehydrated and dull due to climatic changes, long-haul flights, modifications in diet, additional stresses, etc. Pressurized airline cabins also contain less oxygen, which inhibits water retention and is damaging to skin. I always say you need a strict skincare routine to combat dehydration while on the road. Look for products that reduce sensitivity, and always use a moisturizer in-flight—not just a water-based formula, but one that also contains lipids, which provide elasticity and protect against water loss.

2.  What are the smartest things someone can do before, during, and after a flight to help protect skin?

Before: Prevention is key. Two weeks prior to travel, start incorporating serums into your skin-care regimen that are designed to prevent skin reactions.

During: Your in-flight ritual should be based on light exfoliation, powerful hydration, and protection. During long-haul flights, use a mild cleanser designed for sensitive skin. I always carry on Biologique Recherche L’Eauxygenante. It’s a facial spray that’s packed with antioxidants and oxygenating Vitamins A and C, extracted from Orange and Kiwi cells. I spritz this on my skin several times during a flight. I’ll also cover my face with a serum (again, one that’s designed for sensitive skin) to prevent irritation and moisturize the epidermis.

After: Once on the ground, use something that will gently exfoliate, hydrate, and protect. Always pack products that contain a strong concentration of anti-inflammatory active ingredients, plus sun protection. (Try Biologique Recherche’s P50V lotion, a gentler version of our P50 balancing exfoliator.)

3.  What’s the biggest skin-care mistake someone can make in-flight?

Flight attendants may offer you a warm towel to wipe your hands and face while airborne. I always tell clients not to use this on the face, since skin adversely reacts to heat, leading to an imbalance. Instead, ask for a cold towel to refresh, or use micellar water—a cult French product that removes makeup and cleanses the skin without having to rinse.

4. Any common misconceptions when it comes to skincare in the U.S.?

Extractions are very big in North America. Aestheticians frequently suggest that clients “clean” their pores before traveling. But flying at 30,000 feet in a dry atmosphere can cause bad reactions if your skin is recently extracted. Not to mention if you’re headed to a hot and humid climate, your skin may have trouble healing, which could worsen things. If extractions are vital to your routine, my advice is to schedule a treatment at least one month before traveling.

5. Your top five Biologique packing essentials?

Lait VIP O2: An anti-pollution facial cleanser that eliminates impurities, calms the epidermis, and unifies the complexion. It’s ideal for those headed to dry climates, or places with lots of pollution—and especially for frequent travelers with stressed, devitalized skin.

Lotion P50W: A gentle exfoliating lotion that helps to brighten, purify, tone, hydrate, and maintain the acid pH of the epidermis.

L’eauxygenante: A moisturizing, antioxidant, and oxygenating mist that stimulates the epidermis and envelops it in a protective veil.

Crème VIP 02: The ultimate hydrating cream, which contains an oxygenating complex to protect skin against pollution.

BioKiss: A soothing lip balm that moisturizes, revitalizes, and protects the lips from climatic aggressions.

6. What’s your No. 1 skincare secret?

Alexis Page’s Skincare Routine via Into The Gloss

“Every morning I start with the Biologique Recherche Lait VIP O2 on my dry skin and then I hop in the shower. I don’t like to put hot water on my face, so I’ll just let it hang on until I rinse off with cool water at the end.”

“At night, I mix the Biologique Recherche Masque Vivant and Masque VIP O2. That shows you how crazy I am—if you tell me to use the mask every night, I use the mask every damn night. I mix a dollop of each in my hand, go to my fridge and put baking soda in it and mix that together and put it on my face while watching TV or doing the dishes or whatever. Then I rinse it off and use Lotion P50 and maybe one of their serums that come in these cute little science-looking bottles.” -Alexis Page

The 28 Day Challenge!

Will you take the challenge? What if I told you, you have the power to change your skin drastically in 28 days. Ever wonder how your Rescue esthetician keeps her skin glowing and plump, all year round? If you’re simply just cleansing and moisturizing, and especially if you’re using a moisturizer with an SPF built in, chances are your skin is not showing it’s best self.

Imagine an artist using only two colors of paint on a canvas, how limited they would be, or a chef with only two ingredients, how bland their meals might taste. That same logic applies to the skin. Not unlike the painter who needs to layer colors, we too encourage layering in our Rescue skin care regimens. Lines will become less defined, pores will appear smaller, and you will have a glow that gives the illusion of more youthful skin.

The 28 day challenge= cleanse + exfoliate + serum + moisturize + sunblock = Amazing skin!

The layering process begins with the cleansing process, milk, foam or gel. A Rescue favorite is the Osmoclean Pure Cleansing Gel by Institut Esthederm. You and your esthetician can decide what’s best, I encourage switching seasonally.

Next, you will want to exfoliate, we recommend the amazing P50 1970 by Biologique Recherche, but there are other great ways to exfoliate. For example, the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads are an excellent alternative. This step will also count as your toner step.

Then, we have serum! Serum is a wonderful way to specifically resolve your skins weak points. Serums supplement your skin much like vitamins supplement your body. We don’t rely on food alone to get everything we need, so we take vitamins, herbs and/or juice. Serum does exactly that! Everyone can benefit from serum, regardless of skin type. There are some serums that are considered “finishing serums”, which means you add them to the end of your routine to seal and protect the skin from the elements. Refer to your Rescue esthetician for guidance on what serums are best for you, and when to use them.

Next we have moisturizer. We highly encourage separating your SPF from your moisturizer. It may seem a bit unorthodox, but the reason is simple… Molecules! Everything has a molecular structure, and SPF’s have a much larger molecular structure, which is part of why they protect us from the sun. They sit topically and shield us from harmful rays, BUT, long term use of this kind of product can cause skin to become clogged, lethargic and even wrinkled from dehydration. You want to feed your skin with a moisturizer that will penetrate deeply, nourish as well as, balance the skin. Using an SPF moisturizer alone will not achieve these results. Mixing your serums and moisturizers together is an amazing way to strengthen your skin, as well as, emulsify your cream for better absorption. Next time you go to moisturize, try a few drops of serum mixed into your cream. Remember to always use an upward stroke when moisturizing or masking. Like yoga or physical therapy, you want to counter stretch those muscles which increases blood flow, firmness and drainage.

The final layer is SPF, of course. Be sure that your block says “broad spectrum” on it. CC, BB or tinted SPF creams are also great, but keep in mind they can have a very low SPF. Depending on the season, you may want to layer with another SPF powder/bronzer, or simply use a sunblock following your non-SPF moisturizer. I encourage all clients to try our Dr. Dennis Gross CC Cream, they just reformulated their product and it’s a great way to even out skin tone, as well as protect.

Feeling overwhelmed yet? Well fear not, Rescue has an amazing staff just waiting to help, and we have lots of options with a variety of price ranges. As an incentive to get started on your 28 day challenge, Rescue is giving 10% off on all serums if you mention this blog! Happy Holidays from Danuta!

With the holidays right around the corner I’d like to share some of my quick tips on how to look fresh, stay healthy, and glowy!

  1. Good grooming goes a long way.  Make sure this time of the year to squeeze in your eyebrow shaping, manicure, and bikini wax for a quick pick me up! Everything else seems so much easier when you have the basics down. A beautiful nail color can be your best accessory, eyebrows frame your face, and a bikini wax leaves you ready for anything (beach, bed, whatever)!
  2. We all want radiant glowing skin which is easily attainable with a consistent skincare regime.  Make sure you don’t cut corners this time of the year and continue to cleanse well, especially at night after you’ve had a few cocktails and would rather go straight to bed.  A mild acid peel is an instant brightener!  An at home alpha beta peel from Dr. Dennis Gross or P50 “1970” will do the trick. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize… this is the time of the year to go for it. Serums, Masks, Creams.  My go to products right now are Fluide VIP O2 and Elixir Glacier Face Cream, I love using them together for an incredible radiance.
  3. It’s the best season to have fun with makeup!  When else in the year can you use sparkle all over and get away with it?  Going from day to night I’ll play up either lips or eyes.  Deeper plums and emerald green for the eyes can be festive without going overboard.  You can’t go wrong with a classic red lip and a little black dress.
  4. Finding a balance with your lifestyle during the holidays can be a pain.  So if I OD on champagne I’ll have a nice green juice for breakfast and drink plenty of water the following morning, it makes me 50% good.  I usually aim for 75% good with my diet, December is quite unique and I’m happy with 50/50.
  5. It’s better to give than to receive! Gift Giving is the easiest thing for me. I offer all my friends Rescue Gift Certificates, relaxation is something I know they’ll appreciate.
  6. Holiday ambiance is important to me.  I keep a holiday candle on my coffee table with the beautiful seasonal floral arrangements my sister-in-law makes.

Happy Holidays Everyone!
