Spring is all about
beauty from the inside out…

~

Spring is all about beauty from the inside out.  This is the time of the year that I revisit my workout routine and increase cardio by spending more time biking and jogging.  My early yoga practice also seems to improve since there is now daylight at 6AM.  I make changes to my diet as well.  I don’t follow any trends specifically but I do try to eat a plant based diet, including juice, raw whole foods, and salads.  My latest obsession is raw Thai coconut water.  I’ve even learned how to crack them open at home!  The taste is just as incredible as the health benefits.
This is also a great time to dip your toes into green beauty.  Here at Rescue we have long eliminated products containing harmful parabens and I constantly search for smart choices in cosmetics.  We offer formaldehyde free nail polishes for our mani-pedi services and our massage creams are mostly natural containing zero parabens.  Unfortunately there is actually no such thing as purely organic cosmetics unless they are in the oil form.  Most of the products we use and carry that do contain preservatives have been reformulated to today’s European standards to meet strict regulations on the quality and presence of such preservatives.

Since we are on the topic, here are my green beauty recommendations:

Biologique Recherche products are paraben free and use a high concentration of active ingredients that truly work.  Even the way they are manufactured is magical.  On my visit to their lab in France I was educated on the importance of naturally sourced ingredients, plants, fermentation, etc.  Each ingredient in Biologique Recherche products are carefully chosen to create a dialogue with the skin.

Gounjae:  We are proud to include this line in Rescue’s assortment.  On my trip to South Korea I had the pleasure of meeting Gounjae, the founder of this phenomenal company.  She impressed me with her extensive knowledge of herbs and oils.  Her philosophy is to use only organic and chemical-free ingredients to deliver the benefits the nature has promised.  All of the oils used are highly effective pure natural vegetable oils free of synthetic fragrances, as she only uses essential oils.  Every detail in her manufacturing process is taken into consideration right down to the handcrafted soaps that are eco consciously wrapped in chemical-free Hanji (Korean-Paper).

Since skincare is a balancing act I like to recommend home remedies while following a good skincare routine.  My favorite “clean day” is to take a bath with dead sea salts followed by my own concoction of oils.  It is like giving your body a well needed detox on a daily basis.  For health conscious choices I use natural deodorant, Biologique Recherche body oils and creams.  Yet I still use drug store toothpaste, highlight my hair, and indulge in other practices that aren’t perfectly organic.  I am not militant in eliminating chemicals from my daily life because I would go crazy.  I believe in balance and have adopted the mantra “everything in moderation”.

Enjoy your Spring and don’t forget to wear a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sun protection when you’re outside!
