Acne is one of the most common skin concerns that can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or environment. The Biologique Recherche methodology is designed to treat the skin in a way that targets a combination of factors whether that be lifestyle, stress, climate, pollution or hormones. Biologique Recherche founder, Yvan Allouche believes that “one individual’s epidermis may not be entirely uniform, perhaps combining dehydrated areas with perfectly balanced zones, and other areas of high sebum secretion”. This blog will help you curate the perfect acne routine using Biologique Recherche, leaving you with clearer, healthier skin.

Understanding Acne

What is Acne?

Acne is a common skin problem that occurs when hair follicles under the skin get blocked. This happens when oil (called sebum) and dead skin cells clog the pores, leading to breakouts of pimples or zits. These breakouts usually happen on the face but can also show up on the back, chest, and shoulders.

What Causes Acne?

Acne arises from a combination of factors including excess oil production, bacteria, inflammation and clogged pores. In addition, hormonal fluctuations, genetics, stress and lifestyle can exacerbate acne, making it a multifaceted challenge.

Acne-prone Skincare Routine

The Biologique Recherche Acne Prone Skincare Routine is designed to target and manage acne while promoting healthy, balanced skin. Here’s a typical routine.

1. Cleanse

Cleansing should always be your first step before we start the layering process. Cleansing is one of the most important steps in a great skincare routine. This is your time to thoroughly cleanse your pores and remove all makeup, dirt, and oil that has accumulated throughout your day. We recommend double cleansing to everyone. The first cleanse removes surface debris such as makeup, and the second cleanse actually cleanses your skin.

Milk Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin

The Lait S.R. is a gentle purifying and rebalancing milky cleanser that removes impurities and excess sebum from the surface of the skin. Its breathable light gel-cream texture unclogs and tightens pores while protecting the hydrolipidic film. It is recommended to apply on dry skin with dry hands and emulsify using soothing motions and removed with a damp cloth.

2. Tone / Exfoliate

This step balances, exfoliates, and prepares the skin to receive the rest of your routine. Put a moderate amount of the product on a cotton round. Starting at your chest, pat the saturated cotton round into the skin, working your way upwards and out.

Exfoliating Toner

The Lotion P50 Original 1970 is the strongest but most effective P50 toner. This magic potion exfoliates, hydrates and balances the pH of the skin. This formula is known for its ability to clarify and purify the skin and help reduce the appearance of blemishes, blackheads and other imperfections. P50 1970 contains a combination of acids, including alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover.

*Those with sensitive skin, pregnant and/or breastfeeding should use a milder version such as the Lotion P50W

3. Treat

Now is the perfect time to incorporate a booster product into your acne-prone skincare routine. In this step use Biologique Recherche Serums designed to target acne.

The Serum Complexe Iribiol targets excess sebum production and enlarged pores. It is made with salicylic acid, iris and zinc extract making it a customized treatment of skin imperfections including blemishes or acne.

Serum Iso-Placenta which aids in cell renewal, healing and treating a skin barrier damaged by acne. The core of its formula contains a  biomimetic Placenta, which mimics the composition  of the placenta to provide the skin with all the growth factors it needs to rebuild.

4. Apply Mask

Applying masks in an acne-prone skincare routine can be particularly beneficial for controlling breakouts, reducing inflammation, and balancing oil production.

Balancing Face Mask

Masque Vivant, contains live yeast extracts, cucumber and witch hazel which is renowned for their skin-purifying properties and anti-aging benefits. Those with sensitive skin should not use it more than once a week, for those with combination and oily skin, it is recommended to use 2-3 times a week. For stubborn blackheads, we recommend adding in a pinch of baking soda with your Masque Vivant for an added detoxification boost.

5. Moisturize

The moisturizing step in an acne-prone skincare routine is crucial for maintaining healthy skin. Many people with acne-prone skin mistakenly skip this step, fearing that adding moisture will worsen their breakouts. However, moisturizing properly can help balance your skin and prevent further issues.

Moisturizers for Acne Prone Skin

Creme Dermopurifiante “is the go to moisturizer for unbalanced, prone to breakouts and combination skin. It helps to purify the skin, reduce the appearance of redness and regulate oil production, it’s anti-aging as well” says Danuta Mieloch. Another option for those with sensitive skin, enlarged pores and an oily tendency would be the

Emulsion Gel Biosensible S.R. This lightweight moisturizer relieves skin tightness, regulates sebum secretion, rebalances the epidermis and prevents the formation of comedones.

Achieving blemish-free skin requires a consistent and targeted approach. This Biologique Recherche acne routine offers a comprehensive solution, to address acne at its root while restoring balance to the skin.
